Throughout the stages of life humans love to find people they can connect with. This starts from an early age and continues all through life – marriage, having kids, divorce. Going through grief is no different. When one finds themselves in utter despair there is a desperate need to find people who get it.

A few weeks ago Lincoln’s Mommy posted to #infantloss on Instagram about her sweet baby boy, Lincoln. I was captivated by her story so clicked on her name to snoop on her profile. I was shocked and excited to see she was from IL. I reached out immediately. In the last weeks we have been chatting through IG and on May 23rd I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Lincoln’s mommy face to face.

Our conversation was effortless. We talked about everything with the most important topic being our boys. It was so nice to be able to talk to someone who gets the ups and downs of this grief journey. It was so nice to talk to someone who understands the guilt, the pain and the love. It was also nice to talk to someone who knows what grief brain is and how sometimes you just lose track of what you were trying to say.

Thank you Lincoln’s Mommy for making the hike to meet me. I cannot wait to come out by you to sit on Lincoln’s bench.
