Only a bereaved mother knows what it’s like to wake-up and go on with the day to day even though everything hurts. 

Only a bereaved mother knows what it’s like to be crumbling one minute and on a conference call, grocery shopping, going to the gym or any other mundane day to day activity the next.

Only a bereaved mother knows what it’s like to wish to be “there” but knows it’s not her time and must stay here. 

Only a bereaved mother knows how to talk about their dead child with a smile on their face. That smile’s sole purpose is to keep the memories of their child alive.

Only a bereaved mother knows how gut wrenching it is that there will never be new photos, new milestones, or new stories to share. 

Only a bereaved mother knows strength that runs so deep it’s exhausting. 

Only a bereaved mother knows that the first Sunday in May is Bereaved Mother’s Day without even a second thought or reminder. 

Only a bereaved mother knows being a bereaved mother is complex and far more emotional than any amount of words can say. 

Only reason I know this is because I am her. 

I am a bereaved mother.

Today, I honor the grief of all bereaved mothers.
